Frassati Catholic may enroll students who have identified and documented learning differences. The school is able to provide reasonable accommodations in order for students to have equal access to academic courses, without compromising the integrity of the educational program. Frassati Catholic does not provide curriculum modification; students must be able to meet and fulfill the fundamental requirements of the school's educational program.
To qualify for accommodations, a comprehensive psychoeducational assessment conducted by a licensed psychologist, an educational diagnostician, or a licensed specialist in school psychology must be on file and updated every three (3) years. The following reasonable accommodations can be made based on a doctor's recommendation:
Students must make use of the extended time for classroom tests on the same day the test was given during afternoon library hours. If the students have an early release for a school activity on the day of a test, he or she must use the extended time the following morning before school during library hours.
It is important to note that a diagnosis alone does not automatically qualify a student for accommodations. The diagnosis must substantially limit a major life activity, such as learning, to qualify. The school's evaluation of the testing and existing classroom data is what determines eligibility, not just the diagnosis itself.
Frassati Catholic accommodations will be provided on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the school administration.
