Letter from Sister Scholastica

Vigil of St. Dominic

Dear Parents, 

It is a great joy to be here with you at Frassati Catholic High School! God has truly blessed this school and we have so much to be grateful for. Sister John Paul’s first words to me were, “Pier Giorgio Frassati lives at this school.” His joyful and fun-loving spirit are evident to all.

As I welcomed the freshman class and transfer students to Frassati Catholic yesterday, I was reflecting on the changes that these students would bring to our school. As the newest members of our school family, these students will bring new perspectives and ideas, new gifts and talents, new friendships - so many changes that are a blessing to all of us.

I also want to acknowledge that changes can be difficult, and a change in school leadership might leave you feeling uncertain. Of course, nothing fundamental has changed, but even small changes might cause some concern.

But as the new students reminded me, change can be a sign of life and growth and that is exciting!

On that note, there are a few small changes that I wanted to make you aware of. 

• Eddie Lopez Mota has taken on the role of IT director

• Trisha Dunn was hired to teach our chemistry classes

• We’re now using FACTS as our LMS. If you have any questions or problems with it, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Kristi Pinchback.

• Our handbook policy on cell phones now states: “Students may not use cell phones, smart watches or any other communication devices on campus during the academic day except after 3:00 p.m. in non-academic settings, i.e., outside and in the Student Life Building.” Please help your student remember no electronic devices from 7am-3pm.

• Check the school calendar for early dismissals on some Fridays. There are more this year than in past years because we have to complete what is called a ‘self-study’ for accreditation purposes. Our faculty and staff will meet periodically on Friday afternoons to complete this document.

As a reminder, our school uniform reflects the spirit of Frassati Catholic and the seriousness with which we pursue intellectual excellence. We realize that students, especially those new to our school, may need a grace period to get everything they need (ie, correct shoes, haircut, uniform on backorder). For the first two weeks of school, teachers will offer students reminders without issuing uniform notifications. Beginning August 24th, any students who are out of uniform will receive a uniform notification (which really is very minor: 3 notifications result in a lunch detention, and 3 lunch detentions result in an after school detention.)

First Week of School - Student Dress Info

In an effort to support our new students, we're listing more details about dress code to help get things off to a great start.

• Tuesday, August 11 - Casual Uniform
• Wednesday, August 12 (NEW) - Spirit Shirt and Jeans Day to celebrate our City System Welcome. Returning students, feel free to wear one of your City shirts to welcome your new members. Incoming freshmen, a great option is your shirt from Camp Falcon. Any Frassati Catholic shirt will be fine to wear!
• Thursday, August 13 - Dress Uniform (Mass day)
• Friday, August 14 - Spirit Dress Day (regular for Friday's) - this is our Friday standard, any Frassati Catholic branded shirt and outerwear with uniform skirt (ladies) or khaki pants (gentlemen) and solid black uniform shoes.

• Back to School Night is Thursday, August 27  Please see the attached flier for more information!  This is an evening for parents only.
• First Semester Lunch Splits - Please refer to this document to see if you have first or second lunch on A and B days.

Student Life

• Senior Sunrise - Our annual tradition for the senior class is the first day of school, August 11. Seniors can begin arriving on campus at 6:30am for senior sunrise, and meet in the senior picnic area to celebrate the start of their final year at Frassati Catholic. As a special treat, there will be a donut truck for our seniors! This event is intended for the Class of 2027 only. Click here to view the flyer.
