Frassati Catholic High School is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of our students, parents, guardians, and families. This Privacy Statement describes how information is collected, used, and protected when the School communicates with parents, guardians, students, and other members of the School community through text messaging (SMS/MMS) and other School-authorized communication services.

Purpose of Communications

The School may use SMS/MMS and other authorized communication methods to facilitate communication between the School, teachers, staff, parents, guardians, and students when appropriate and permitted under School communication policies.

Nothing in this Statement changes the School's existing policies governing employee communications with students. Consistent with the School's Employee Handbook, faculty and staff members should ordinarily not text students. Any SMS/MMS communication with a student must be permitted by School policy and conducted through a School-authorized communication platform.

Teachers and authorized School staff may communicate with parents, guardians, and, when permitted by School policy, students regarding matters related to the educational mission of the School and the partnership between the School and families in supporting students.

These communications may include, but are not limited to:

• Academic matters, assignments, grades, and student progress

• Attendance, tardiness, and absences

• School activities, programs, events, and schedules

• Meetings, appointments, conferences, and reminders

• Student conduct and behavioral matters

• Extracurricular activities and athletics

• School operations, closures, emergencies, and safety-related information

• Questions or concerns raised by parents, guardians, students, teachers, or staff

• Other matters reasonably related to a student's education, welfare, participation in School programs, or the partnership between the School and the student's family

SMS/MMS communications are intended for legitimate School-related purposes and are not intended for commercial advertising or unrelated marketing.

Information We May Use

In providing educational services and communicating with families, the School may collect, maintain, and use information provided by parents, guardians, and students, including:

• Names and demographic information

• Telephone numbers and email addresses

• Parent, guardian, and emergency contact information

• Student and family contact information

• Information provided through enrollment and School records

• Personal information voluntarily provided to the School

• Information reasonably necessary for the School to provide educational, administrative, safety, and student-support services

Confidentiality and Use of Information

Information provided to the School by parents, guardians, and students will be treated as confidential and used only for legitimate educational, administrative, operational, safety, and student-support purposes consistent with the School's mission and responsibilities.

The School will not sell personal information or use information provided by students, parents, or guardians for commercial advertising or unrelated commercial purposes.

Personal information may be disclosed when reasonably necessary to provide School services, operate School-authorized systems, protect the health or safety of members of the School community, comply with applicable law or legal obligations, or as otherwise permitted by applicable law.

Service providers used by the School to facilitate School operations may process information on the School's behalf as necessary to provide their services and are expected to maintain the confidentiality and security of that information.

The information-sharing provisions above do not apply to SMS opt-in data and consent. SMS opt-in data and consent are subject to the no-sharing provisions stated below.

SMS/MMS Communications and Consent

Parents, guardians, students, and other recipients who provide a mobile telephone number to the School and opt in to receive SMS/MMS communications may receive text messages from authorized School personnel for School-related purposes when appropriate and permitted under School communication policies.

Consent to receive SMS/MMS communications is used solely to facilitate School-related communications.

SMS Opt-In Data and Consent – No Sharing

Frassati Catholic High School will not share text messaging originator opt-in data or consent with any third parties.

All categories of information sharing described in this Privacy Statement exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.

SMS opt-in data includes information collected in connection with an individual's decision to receive SMS/MMS communications from Frassati Catholic High School, including the individual's mobile telephone number when collected as part of the SMS opt-in process, SMS consent status, and records associated with that consent.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

SMS opt-in data and consent will remain confidential and will be used only for purposes associated with providing and managing the School's SMS/MMS communications.

SMS/MMS Messaging Terms

Message frequency may vary depending on the circumstances and the recipient's interactions with the School. Message and data rates may apply.

Recipients may opt out of applicable SMS/MMS communications at any time by replying STOP.

Recipients may reply HELP for assistance where supported or contact the School directly for assistance.

Opting out of SMS/MMS communications does not prevent the School from communicating through other appropriate channels, including telephone, email, School information systems, or emergency communication systems.

Information Security

The School takes reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, loss, or misuse.

Access to personal information is limited to authorized School personnel and service providers who require access for legitimate School-related purposes.

While the School takes reasonable precautions to protect information, no electronic communication or information system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Student and Family Privacy

The School recognizes the importance of protecting information concerning students and their families. Teachers, staff, administrators, and authorized service providers are expected to handle student and family information responsibly and confidentially and only for appropriate School-related purposes.

Information obtained through School communications will not be used for unrelated commercial purposes or sold to third parties.
